70 degrees in january?!?!

i'll take it.

this weekend has been BEAUTIFUL and i'm super excited to get back on my bike for a ride later this afternoon. in fact, it's been so nice that i was up at 7 AM this morning, had coffee, watched the sun rise, and am (surprisingly) still awake. it is sunday morning after all...

so today's ride is supposedly an "easy" 20-mile in-town loop; we'll see how "easy" this is... i think my challenge will be that whole "in-town" bit; i hate riding with car traffic. last time i rode in traffic, i totally bit it and now have a lovely scar to show for it. luckily, only my pride was really injured and nothing else (at least not too badly). the real update will come later... if i'm still able to move my legs... (i know i know, what does moving my legs have anything to do with my ability to type? just the fact that i'll have to move my legs to get me to my computer... sad, but true. :))

happy sunday!

ok -- here's the post-ride update. i hurt. i fell. i have a skinned knee and a bruised ego (but hey - it happens to everyone!) and i don't think i can stand up straight anymore. legs are fine, but damn is my back sore... will bake* for any volunteers who would like to give me a back massage... i know, who can turn down that kind of offer?!

whining aside, this nice, "easy" ride really was great (except for all that lying about there only being "one hill". i should know better..this is atlanta!) went from the highlands > druid hills > candler park > little 5 > inman park > highlands > morningside > ansley > piedmont park (dear GOD there were a ton of people there today.. all trying to get in that nice weather, i'm sure) > back to the highlands. if you know anything about atlanta topography, you'll know that THAT is not flat. at all. i can hardly wait for the "rolling hills" of the actual ride... i feel like "rolling hills" is going to be up for debate.  so now, it's time for a hot shower, and some quality time with "the stick." i wish i had a foam roller...that might also be good....
